Replying to zali:

Where should the clone button appear?

I'd suggest to add it in the object attributes tab, next to "Download as pdf" button.

What objects can be cloned?

Parts and Documents can be cloned. Not Users and groups.
We can clone objects at all states.

Which attributes and links of the object should be automatically cloned?
Which attributes and links can be redefined by the user?

All attributes are cloned except its reference.
See revision rules. We should be able to ask user what are the links he want to maintain.

Can the lifecycle and the group of the new object be different from the original?

Yes, it can. I'd suggest to display the creation page with all fields filled-in with cloned object values.
Then, user can modify some or all of them except type.

Hi,
The clone feature is avaible in rev [1284].
Now a user can clone an object if :

  • he can read it,
  • he is a contributor.

The clone button is in the object attributes tab .
