Object - Give possibility to cancel an object

Reported by: pjoulaud Owned by:

Description

Sometimes we create some parts or documents and we don't want them after.
One of our credo is : No object deletion. OK.
But user should have a way to disable/cancel them.
Should we add a cancel button ? Or should we authorize lifecycle modification when we edit an object ? I don't know.

Who can cancel a part or document? Its creator or anyone with owner rights on it?

Replying to zali:

I think anyone with owner rights on the object should be able to cancel it. To be creator or not doesn't matter.

A user can now cancel object (rev [1211]) in the lifecycle page. Can you test it?

ping?

I tested. It's ok.

I'd specify more precisely :
You assumed users can't cancel objects with links. I agree with this.
In that case, I'd just suggest to inform user in a popup.

You assumed user can't cancel Document if it has a file in it. I think we can cancel a Document with a file in it.

Thank you.

Hi,

I think it is more user friendly if the cancel button is disabled and a toolip appears if the pointer is over the button.

Clicking on a button and getting a popup saying that you can not do what you wanted to do is just annoying.

Regards,
Pierre

Hi,

I updated the cancel action (rev [1256]):

  • users can now cancel a Document even if it has file in it
  • when the cancel action isn't allowed a message is displayed to explain why , see the picture :

Hi,
Is there anything to add or change on the cancel action?

  • Status changed from new to closed
  • Resolution set to fixed

Thank you. It seems ok for me.
